[SEP 2010] The Long goodbye

Who are we kidding? We all have our own style, our own thoughts and hump style.
Talking IRC chat of course.

Some people hump, others hug, most will slap you around with a large trout and have little fear of retaliation.

Now getting that out of the way. Am I the only one to notice the rampant fast goodbye?
After all Goodbye might be forever! What happened to waiting for a response? Do you really want your friends to forever regret never getting to say goodbye?

This tragedy happening in IRC goes something like this.

Everyone is typing away happily, shoving cones about, passing out cookies and humping at will. Then it happens......someone says it, "Goodbye".....still full of joy and ready to spam the soon to be departed chatty friend. The rest of the room starts a reply, only, to be too late.
POOF!

Somehow this one little act of not waiting to be spammed goodbye effects the entire mood of the room. The backspace button is used and the returned goodbyes litter the room. Sad isnt it?

Recall the good ole days.

Goodbyes took at least ten minutes! Sometimes goodbyes had to be said over and over just because the spam was that good, it couldnt be ignored! Everyone was given the chance to say goodbye. Everyone had the option of saying something crude just to keep you around. It was.....
The 'Long' Goodbye.

So....my plea to my fellow mars IRC goers.

Answer the call of the 'Long' goodbye! You never know when it may be your last!
